A citizen was shot dead this Monday (20 Jan) by a Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) officer in the district of Nicoadala, Zambezia province. The Head of the Public Relations Department at the PRM Provincial Command, Miguel Caetano, said that the victim was part of alleged demonstrators who had set up barricades on the road between Nicoadala and Quelimane, demanding money from motorists.
“Nine individuals were caught, armed with machetes, sticks, and other blunt instruments. Unfortunately, during our operational work, one of the members was shot and unfortunately lost his life,” he said.
