On January 23, an armed group kidnapped seven children, all male, in the village of Mumu, in the town of Oasse, in the northern district of Mocímboa da Praia, in Cabo Delgado. The raid is increasing fear of further attacks in the region.
The sources say that the kidnappers entered the village during the night and climbed into two houses, from where they captured the children, some of them from the same family. Residents of Mocímboa da Praia said that it is unclear why the boys were kidnapped, claiming that the terrorists stopped kidnapping teenagers to join their ranks many months ago.
