Members of parliament from the RENAMO and MDM political parties have announced that they will not take part in the swearing-in ceremony in the Assembly of the Republic, scheduled for today, January 13, for the next five-year legislature.
Marcial Macome, spokesman for RENAMO, justified the decision, saying that the party demands respect for the “will of the people” and reiterates its call for “free, fair, and transparent elections”. The Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM) has also decided that its eight deputies will not be sworn in.
