The storm “Dikeledi” entered the Mozambique Channel today, 12 January, as a severe tropical storm. In the next few hours, the natural phenomenon could evolve into an intense tropical cyclone.
The districts of Memba, Nacala, Monapo, Meconta, Mossuril, Ilha de Moçambique, Mogincual, Angoche, and Moma in Nampula are at risk. Winds of 60 kilometers per hour and heavy rain are expected from Monday afternoon onwards. Severe thunderstorms and winds with very strong gusts of 63 to 88 kilometers per hour are also expected in the Mozambique Channel, causing waves at sea between 4 and 7 meters high.
