UNICEF in Mozambique believes in reversing USAID funding freeze

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Mozambique is optimistic that the measures announced by US President Donald Trump to freeze all funds financed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) for various socio-economic projects will be reversed. UNICEF’s representative in Mozambique, Mary Louise, spoke a few days ago in Quelimane, after a meeting with the governor of Zambezia province, Pio Matos.

Mary Louise said she hoped that the Trump administration would reconsider its decisions so that education, health, and other projects could be funded to improve the condition of the beneficiaries. In the meantime, Governor Pio Matos points out that his priority in the next partnerships will be to support the strengthening of community leaders’ mobility and increase the fluidity of information monitoring.
