At least 29 deaths and 777 cases of cholera since October in two Mozambican provinces

Mozambique has registered 25 new cases in the last 24 hours, and there is a “considerable risk” of the outbreak worsening, particularly due to the rainy season that is currently taking place in the country.

The cholera outbreak was declared on October 17 2024 in three regions in the provinces of Nampula and Zambézia. The Mozambican Director of Public Health also said that the country has medicines available in all provinces and districts to treat cases of cholera and other diseases, noting that a scenario “possibly more serious” than the current one had been predicted. Of the cumulative 777 cases reported, 501 were hospitalized and 729 were discharged.
