Mozambique: population on the run after attack by suspected terrorists

The village of Iba, in Cabo Delgado province in northern Mozambique, has been abandoned by the population due to an alleged terrorist attack. The village is believed to have been looted.

The attack took place at around noon last Monday when the armed group entered the village firing indiscriminately. There are no reports of deaths among the residents of Iba, but it is believed that the village was looted. Since October 2017, gas-rich Cabo Delgado has been facing an armed rebellion, which has caused thousands of deaths and a humanitarian crisis, with more than a million people displaced.
