The Mozambican government’s commitment to defending children’s rights was reinforced today (March 14) with an audience granted by President Daniel Chapo to the Civil Society Forum for Children’s Rights (ROSC). The meeting aimed to present the national children’s agenda, built on the aspirations of around three thousand Mozambican children gathered during a public consultation held before the last elections.
Among the main concerns raised by the children were improving education, ending sexual violence and violence in schools, as well as the fight against child abductions which, in some cases, result in deaths in unknown circumstances. Another central point of the meeting was the need to invest in early childhood development, which is considered essential for children’s cognitive and physical growth.
