The inability of the Mozambique government to provide drinking water and sanitation continues to create the conditions for the development of the cholera vibrio that continues to kill Mozambicans, the most recent deaths occurring in Nampula Province.
The first outbreak of cholera in Mozambique broke out on October 17, 2024 in the district of Murrupula, in Nampula province. As the disease has spread, so has a wave of disinformation about the causes of cholera, leading to mob attacks against community leaders, and schools.
