An attack by suspected terrorists took place in the village of Nnonia, in the district of Ancuabe, in the Cabo Delgado province. The attack forced the population to flee to neighboring communities and to the district headquarters, about 150 kilometers from the city of Pemba.
Since October 2017, the Cabo Delgado province has been facing an armed rebellion with attacks claimed by movements associated with the extremist group Islamic State.
