New terrorist attacks in Mozambique have targeted villages in the Ancuabe district of the Cabo Delgado province. These attacks come at a time when Total Energies has announced the refinancing of its mega-project in this region and are part of the increase in violence since President Daniel Chapo said that the armed groups were in retreat.
The new attacks in Ancaube have killed at least three people and caused around 500 families to flee, making a total of 1,500 more displaced people in Cabo Delgado due to terrorism. This attack has already been confirmed, and according to Abdul Tavares, the Cabo Delgado provincial coordinator of the CDD-Center for Democracy and Human Rights, these attacks are part of the multiplication of attacks in the center and south of the region following the arrival in power of the new President, Daniel Chapo.
