Mozambique plans to increase its production of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) by 500% in five years, to 20 million tons per year (mtpa), according to data from the Government’s Five-Year Program (PQG) 2025 – 2029.
Mozambique has three development projects approved to exploit the natural gas reserves of the Rovuma basin, classified among the largest in the world, off the coast of Cabo Delgado, including one by TotalEnergies, still suspended due to security issues, on the Afungi peninsula, with only the one led by Italy’s Eni in production and expected to double in volume.
