The controversy surrounding the elections at the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) continues to generate a lot of ink. Yesterday, the Beira Commercial Association (ACB), led by businessman Félix Machado, said that the electoral process is shameful and demonstrates the interest of businessmen involved in lobbying for their benefit and not for the economy as a whole and that, if this situation is not resolved, the ACB will not take part in the election.
These statements did not please the candidate for President of the CTA, Maria de Assunção Abdula. In a press release sent to “Carta”, Abdula said that she “distances herself from the generalized accusations made about the electoral process, which is underway, and does not accept her conduct being confused with practices that she repudiates. We act with a clear conscience, supported by principles of fairness, ethics, and transparency in all our actions and proposals”.
