Mozambique: Conflict in Cabo Delgado has displaced 24,000 people

Since the start of the year, renewed attacks and fear of attacks by non-State armed groups (NSAGs) in the northern province of Cabo Delgado have triggered the displacement of an estimated 24,000 people across the districts of Ancuabe, Macomia, Meluco, Mocimboa da Praia, Montepuez, Muidumbe, and Nangade. According to the latest Humanitarian Situation Report by the UN, half of the affected population are children.

Ancuabe is the most affected district, with nearly 15,000 individuals displaced, followed by Montepuez, with 5,300 displaced. The UN and its partners have initiated response efforts, but insecurity and logistical challenges have severely hampered operations.
