The National Criminal Investigation Service, SERNIC, will now be under the supervision of the Attorney General of the Republic, and its agents will be called the Judicial Police.
The change in authority is the result of Parliament’s approval of the proposal to revise the law creating the National Criminal Investigation Service. The Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, stressed that the change in SERNIC’s tutelage will assign specific competencies in the criminal investigation component through the creation of specialized units.
