Triple crisis leaves 5.2 million in need of help in Mozambique

The United Nations (UN) said that almost 5.2 million people need assistance due to the “triple crisis” in Mozambique, the result of “armed conflict, recurring extreme weather events and months of post-election unrest”.

More than 25,000 Mozambicans in the north of the country have been forced to flee their homes in recent weeks due to the escalation of the conflict in the northern region of Mozambique. Women and children, in particular, face “serious risks” in terms of protection in an environment where “gender-based violence, family separation, and limited access to documentation are increasing dramatically.
