The problem of human trafficking in Mozambique is complex, as it has multiple facets, including the commercialisation of human beings for sexual exploitation, forced labour, and certain traditional practices aimed at quick and illicit enrichment.
Human trafficking, in whatever form, is undoubtedly one of the most serious violations of human rights and can be considered a true ‘global epidemic’ that harms human dignity and individual freedom. In the 21st century, people are still being trafficked around the world, commercialised as objects for consumption and profit.
