The Mozambican economy shrank by 3.92% year-on-year in the first quarter, after falling by 5.73% in the last three months of 2024, Mozambique’s National Statistics Institute (INE) announced.
Exports “recorded a weak performance”, with a fall of 2.26% year-on-year from January to March, while imports recorded a positive performance of 6.11%. Mozambican GDP grew by 3.56% in the first quarter of 2024, followed by further increases of 4.28% and 5.53% in the second and third quarters respectively.
