Maputo National Park is one of five sites nominated with “exceptional potential” for World Heritage status by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), whose decision will be made from July 6 to 16 in Paris by UNESCO.
In addition to Maputo National Park, the IUCN recommendation includes the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems of the Bijagós Archipelago in Guinea-Bissau, the Gola-Tiwai complex, an elephant refuge in Sierra Leone, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Vietnam and Mount Kumgang in North Korea.
