Mozambique is seeing more and more cases of violence against minors. Recent figures indicate that last May more than 200 children were raped across the country, exposing them to vulnerability and physical, psychological and sexual abuse. The situation worries the authorities and children’s rights organizations.
According to Quitéria Moiane, head of the Department for Family Care and Minors who are Victims of Violence in Maputo City, the institution receives cases of violence against minors daily, such as mistreatment or aggression suffered within the family.
