Mozambique registers around 25,000 cases of different types of cancer every year, of which 17,000 result in death, according to estimates by health authorities.
Cesaltina Lorenzoni, head of the National Cancer Control Program in Mozambique, stated that one of the challenges the country currently faces in diagnosing and treating cancer is the shortage of specialized healthcare professionals. Among the most commonly diagnosed pathologies, Cesaltina Lorenzoni points to cervical cancer, breast cancer, and Caposse’s Sarcoma.
