While in possession of a list of alleged terrorists, the social activist Ali Saide Muicuna was detained by local authorities on April 20 in the town of Oasse, while he was traveling towards the town of Mocímboa da Praia, in northern Cabo Delgado.
According to the Mozambican Network of Human Rights Defenders, Muicuna was accompanied by two other activists. In a statement issued on June 9, the network denounced that Muicuna was mistreated and taken before the criminal investigating judge without the accompaniment of a public defender or lawyer, which constitutes a violation of Article 62 of the Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique.
