Seven-year-old twins died after inhaling rat poison put there by their father to protect the corn stored in the room where the children slept.
Sónia and José Araújo, aged seven, were sleeping in a house in the Chissui neighborhood in Chimoio, Manica province. On Saturday morning, realizing that the children were taking a long time to wake up, the father tried to call his children and knocked on the door, but received no response. Desperate, he broke down the bedroom door and found José lifeless, while Sónia was still fighting for her life. Sónia ended up not resisting and lost her life too.
