Mozambique: UNICEF worried about reports of violent attacks and abductions targeting children in Cabo Delgado

UNICEF Mozambique released a statement saying that it is deeply concerned by credible reports of violent attacks and abductions targeting children in Cabo Delgado province. “A recent attack on Magaia village, in the District of Muidumbe, on 11 May, in which it is reported that three girls aged 17, 14, and 12 were killed and eight others, including six girls and two boys, were abducted, is a tragic reminder of the dangers children face in conflict-affected areas,” read the statement.

UNICEF continues to work with partners to support affected children and their families, facilitate the safe return and reintegration into communities of children abducted by non-state armed groups, and ensure access to essential services.
