The U.S. Embassy in Mozambique has pledged approximately $160 million in assistance to the country for HIV and tuberculosis testing and treatment, bringing an end to months of uncertainty over funding.
The funding will be used for some of the programs that were covered by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the U.S. initiative that has provided life-saving HIV treatment in 55 countries and is estimated to have saved 26 million lives worldwide.
