The community of Calipo, in the district of Mogovolas, province of Nampula, is in shock over a barbaric crime committed by two brothers against their own 14-year-old nephew. According to local reports, the men accused the teenager of stealing about two kilograms of beans. Under the pretext of “correcting” the minor, the uncles violently assaulted him to death.
After committing the crime, the suspects attempted to mislead the authorities, claiming that the population had lynched the young man after being caught in the act. After their initial arrest in Calipo, the two men were transferred to the District Police Headquarters in Mogovolas, in the village of Nametil, where they await legal proceedings.
