The Mozambican government points to difficulties in connecting to the internet and persistent regional inequalities as problems that hinder the expansion of distance learning in the country, despite the “progress” made in ensuring quality.
Despite the challenges, the government emphasized the strategic role of distance learning in expanding access to quality higher education in Mozambique, noting that the number of students enrolled in this type of education grew from 52,389 in 2018 to 117,683 in 2023.
