The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) hosted on Tuesday (23) at BCI headquarters auditorium in Maputo the workshop “B4R: Strategic Partnerships with the Private Sector for Results in Favor of Children”. The event brought together various private entities to discuss and share successful experiences, strengthening collaboration around children’s rights, corporate responsibilities, and new areas of joint action.
UNICEF’s representative in Mozambique, Mary Louise Eagleton, stressed the need to work in partnership, highlighting that the organization’s 2022-2026 cooperation program is structured around five intervention areas: nutrition and health; education and skills development; protection from violence, exploitation, and abuse; water, sanitation, and hygiene; and social inclusion and poverty reduction. Eagleton highlighted existing challenges, including limited access to healthcare, early marriage, conflicts, and high levels of poverty, and called for greater collaboration between the private sector and UNICEF.
