An armed group of suspected terrorists invaded and burned down the Mwiriti mining camp in the Montepuez district of Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province. The attack, at the Nairoto administrative post, took place on Wednesday (15) at around 7:00 p.m. local time, when the alleged rebels entered firing shots.
Mwiriti is a Mozambican company with a license to explore and prospect for gold in the district of Montepuez, a region that has been the target of attacks by alleged terrorists in recent days. There are no reports of casualties, but the attack led to the flight of workers and the suspension of work.
