More than 25,000 people have been forced to flee their homes in recent weeks due to armed violence in Cabo Delgado.
Some families have fled for the third time, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). Comparing this with the population of one of Cabo Delgado’s least populated districts, the Meluco district, which has 24,637 inhabitants (2017 Census), this would mean that, in recent weeks, the Meluco district has become completely depopulated due to the armed conflict.
