Mozambique’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas, and the Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, Liu Jianchao, reaffirmed their mutual desire to consolidate the historic relations of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between Mozambique and the People’s Republic of China.
On the international front, the Minister reaffirmed Mozambique’s commitment to maintaining good relations with China on matters of common interest, reiterating Mozambique’s support for the “one China” principle and the “one country, two systems” policy. The Minister also took the opportunity to thank China for its humanitarian support for the victims of cyclones Dikeledi, Chido, and Jude, as well as its solidarity in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism in Cabo Delgado.
