Mozambique: Cholera outbreak infected 4,000 people and killed 62 in 8 months

The cholera outbreak in Mozambique has caused 3,998 confirmed cases and 62 deaths since October 2024, according to the latest bulletin released by the National Directorate of Public Health. The situation remains critical, with active outbreaks in five provinces in the central and northern regions.

The most affected province is Nampula, in the north of the country, with 3,466 infections and 40 deaths. This is followed by Zambézia, in the central region, with 352 cases and 12 deaths. In the last two weeks alone, 129 new cases and three additional deaths have been recorded, according to data updated up to June 16.
