More than three thousand children are abused in Mozambique

In the first six months of 2025, Mozambique recorded more than 3,000 cases of violence against children, out of a total of around 9,000 cases of gender-based violence.

Of the total recorded, 2,157 cases were against girls, mostly perpetrated by close family members. Another 175 minors suffered domestic violence, while 1,001 were victims of crimes against sexual freedom. In addition, 803 children did not receive food assistance from their parents or guardians.
