Margarida Talapa is the new President of the Assembly of Mozambique

She was elected with 169 votes in favor, out of 210 votes cast by the deputies present, including 171 from Frelimo and 39 from PODEMOS, with 40 deputies not voting because they were absent. Margarida Talapa succeeds Esperança Bias as President of the Assembly of the Republic (AR).

In her speech, Talapa thanked her peers for their trust in her through their votes and wished to count on the support of all the deputies in her new role and the Executive, the Judiciary, and Civil Society Organizations.
