The United Nations (UN) has warned that more than 77% of internally displaced persons in Cabo Delgado province face serious psychological problems as a result of armed conflict and natural disasters such as Cyclone Chido.
UN reveals that most displaced persons, who have suffered multiple displacements, are living in psychological distress. However, only one-fifth of displaced individuals have received psychological and mental health support, a gap attributed to insufficient service coverage, a lack of qualified professionals, and a lack of safe spaces. Of this total, 60% are children, some of whom are alone and separated from their families.
