Insurgents linked to the Islamic State group attacked a key Mozambique port town near a major international gas hub, clashing with troops and beheading at least two civilians, locals reported Monday.
The raid on Mocimboa da Praia, in Cabo Delgado province, around 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of a multibillion-dollar liquefied natural gas project operated by French energy giant TotalEnergies, is the latest in a series of attacks in the region in recent weeks. A local military official said four people were killed.
