At least 99 people died between January and August this year from malaria in the province of Niassa, northern Mozambique, with 448,526 cases of the disease recorded, an increase of 62.3% compared to 2024, provincial authorities said.
In 2024, at least 358 people died from malaria in Mozambique, which recorded more than 11.5 million cases and around 67,000 hospitalizations, the Mozambican president said on April 25, as part of World Malaria Day, calling for greater protection for children.
