The Directorate-General for Civil Protection and European Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) estimates that 114,208 children under the age of 5 will suffer from acute malnutrition in Mozambique this year, including 29,903 in the most severe form.
“The rate of chronic malnutrition in children under 5 years of age fell from 43% in 2013 to 37% in 2023. However, chronic malnutrition levels in children under 5 years of age in Mozambique are still high, considering the parameters established by the World Health Organization (WHO), which is 20%,” said Benvinda Levi, Mozambican Prime Minister.
