During a meeting with Minister of Health Ussene Isse, United States (US) Chargé d’Affaires Abigail L. Dressel announced that the US will donate Lenacapavir, an FDA-approved injectable medication administered twice a year for HIV prevention.
Mozambique is one of ten countries selected worldwide for this pioneering program. This initiative is part of the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). In clinical trials conducted by Gilead Sciences, more than 99% of participants remained HIV-negative, underscoring the transformative potential of this innovation.
