Mozambican health authorities plan to vaccinate 78,442 girls in Maputo against cervical cancer over five days as part of a national campaign that starts Monday (29).
The national campaign, which runs until October 3, aims to contribute “to the elimination of the disease” and, essentially, “to protect girls against infection” by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Although the target of 78,442 girls refers only to Maputo, vaccination will be carried out nationwide, covering all provinces of the country during the same period, with the immediate aim of preventing this sexually transmitted infection.
