Daniel Chapo is inaugurated today for his first term as the fifth President of the Republic of Mozambique, following his controversial victory in the October 9, 2024 elections. The ceremony, which will take place in Maputo’s Independence Square, will also be open to all Mozambicans who wish to attend.
Under the Constitution of the Republic, the ceremony will be led by the President of the Constitutional Council (CC), Lúcia Ribeiro, and witnessed by around 2,500 guests, both national and foreign. Daniel Chapo will succeed Filipe Nyusi in office.
