Former Mozambican presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane announced that he would create his party, after announcing the end of his relationship with Povo Otimista para o Desenvolvimento de Moçambique (Podemos) party, with which he had a “political agreement” for the last October’s elections, and later had disagreements with the leadership of the Povo Otimista para o Desenvolvimento de Moçambique (Podemos) party, that has seen its popularity rise since announcing, on August 21, 2024, its support for the politician’s candidacy in the October 9 presidential elections.
Podemos is accused of tampering with the political agreement that existed between the two parties (Mondlane and Podemos) and he criticizes the fact that the Podemos is part of the dialogue table to end the post-election crisis being promoted by the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, without presenting the public with “a concrete agenda or proposing terms of reference”.
