The number of users of the SMS BIZ platform has risen from 470,000 in 2022 to 880,000 in 2024, allowing young people and teenagers to obtain information on sexuality, early pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, HIV, and others. SMS BIZ, a digital platform for offering health services, is a government initiative implemented about 10 years ago by the Mozambican Youth Coalition Association.
SMS BIZ is a free text messaging platform primarily used in Mozambique, operated by UNICEF, which allows young people to ask questions and receive information on topics like sexual and reproductive health, HIV prevention, and child marriage through anonymous text messages, essentially acting as a confidential counseling service for youth via SMS.
