Another kidnapping took place this Friday morning (February 21) in the city of Maputo, Mozambique’s capital. He was a 57-year-old Portuguese-Mozambican businessman who worked in the vehicle import sector. The kidnapping took place when the businessman’s all-terrain vehicle entered the parking lot where he was heading to a local gym for his usual workout and was intercepted by three individuals.
The Police were called in and began searching the streets near the site, all of which were closed. According to Leonel Muchina, police spokesperson in Maputo City, it was during this investigation that a suspicious vehicle was stopped by the police, with three individuals inside. The individuals abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby cemetery. Two firearms were found inside the car as well as the clothes of the suspected kidnappers used during the operation. Sources confirm that hours later the victim was rescued.
