On Friday, February 21, a group of alleged armed terrorists looted people’s possessions in the village of Mandela, Muidumbe district, in the Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, local sources told Lusa. The looting of food products, such as maize, dried cassava, and beans, from houses that were not being used, took place in broad daylight and was discovered by a group of paramilitaries from the Local Force, which is patrolling the area.
As well as looting, the alleged armed terrorists destroyed some houses and scattered all the belongings they found in the homes. The community was abandoned in June 2024 after terrorists attacked the village. Since October 2017, the gas-rich province of Cabo Delgado has been facing an armed rebellion with attacks claimed by movements associated with the extremist group Islamic State.
