The health authorities in Nampula, northern Mozambique, have confirmed cases of cholera in two more districts of the province (Murrupula and Nampula), joining Mogovolas, which recorded 29 deaths due to the outbreak of the disease in 2024.
The latest report on the progression of the disease in the country, for the period from October 2023 to July 2024, indicated a total of 16,506 infected people, with a lethality rate of 0.2%, throughout the country. The health authorities in Nampula had already admitted on February 7 that myths and misinformation are compromising the vaccination target against cholera in the district of Mogovolas, among the most affected in that northern province of Mozambique.
