Mozambique: Japan donates 11 million USD to strengthen security in Cabo Delgado

The Government of Japan has provided 11 million dollars to reinforce community policing and border security in Cabo Delgado, the northern Mozambican province that has been plagued by insurgent attacks since 2017.

The project aims to “rehabilitate and build new police stations and reinforce the infrastructure of border crossings”, according to a statement issued by the Japanese Embassy in Mozambique. According to the statement, the money, given to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which will implement it, will also enable the province’s police and migration forces to be trained.
