The Mozambican government has announced the need for 1.2 billion meticais to carry out emergency works to restore traffic on roads and bridges severely damaged by tropical storm Jude, which devastated the northern region of the country. Of this total, around 971 million meticais will be allocated to the province of Nampula, the worst affected by the storm.
The road link between Nampula and Cabo Delgado is currently interrupted. In Anchilo, about 20 kilometers from the city of Nampula, traffic is being held up using a detour.
