More than 150 girls from two districts in Nampula province returned to school in the 2025 school year, after “child marriages and unwanted pregnancies”, as part of a project developed by the consortium formed by ActionAid Mozambique, Rede HOPEM, and World Vision with funding from Global Affairs Canada.
In these two districts, the project was able to support the return to school of 153 girls “after they had dropped out due to child marriages and unwanted pregnancies.” 136 girls from Murrupula returned to school, and 17 girls from Nacarôa. The project also promoted savings groups and revolving credit, allowing participants “access to resources to cover school expenses and other basic needs”.
