There are sexually exploited children and schoolchildren working as “slaves” in exchange for 25,000 meticais a year in the corridors of the “stealth industry” in Gaza province. The administrator of the Banhine National Park provided the information. More than 800 cases have been opened in the country, including 150 for crimes of poaching and illegal exploitation.
Child sexual exploitation is rife in poaching schemes in Gaza province, southern Mozambique. Last year, five girls were rescued inside the Banhine National Park, north of the province. According to Abel Nhanbanga, Administrator of Banhine National Park, the so-called “poaching empire” also recruits young people for illegal logging for an annual salary of 20,000 meticais.
